The Creation Gym is a 2-hour drop-in session for queer artists and creators of any age. The Creation Gym is facilitated by Daniel Carter. Sessions are held on a drop-in basis, and you can come or go when you need to.
Guest Artist Workshops
Guest artist workshops are offered throughout the season, with different guest artists sharing skills and different approaches to creation. Workshops are free to attend but have a limited capacity – registration information for upcoming sessions can be found below.
Sunday, May 12 – Art + Abolition for 2QTBIPOC Artists with the AMY Project
What is the relationship between the prison system and ongoing colonization?
What is the role that artists can play in undoing the colonial frameworks that perpetuate anti-Black, anti-Indigenous, Islamophobic, queerphobic, transphobic state discrimination? As 2QTBIPOC artists, in what was are we well positioned to imagine and practice alternative models of accountability, justice, and liberation? What could a world without prisons look like?
This two-hour workshop offers a facilitated creative space for 2QTBIPOC artists to be in community together, to interrogate the arts sector’s relationship to state violence, to laugh, to grieve, and to imagine new worlds together. TTC tokens and light refreshments will be provided. All participants will also receive a complimentary ticket to the 2:30pm showing of Lilies; Or, the Revival of a Romantic Drama.
This will be the final workshop of this season. The dates for the 2019-20 workshop series will be announced at our season launch party on September 13.
