Our last open slam of the season! One more spot to be had in the finals stage and it’s up for grabs, you don’t have to had slammed yet this season, simply show up with two 3 min poems and you’re in! Winner gets an in for finals and a chance to get the grand prize of bragging rights AND a trip to Capturing Fire, The International Queer Summit & Slam in Washington DC, travel and accommodations paid!
As always there’s an anything goes open mic, The Queirdo prize for weirdest poem and Mardi Gras beads available for anyone not wanting to be photographed or mentioned.
Our feature is the grand slam winner of Hot Damn last year! He’ll also be doing a workshop from 4 to 6pm at Glad Day books. Both events are 10 or PWYC, and in accessible spots. Please contact Charlie C Petch directly with any questions or needs around that.
D’Scribe the poet is a Mik’maq and Blackfoot poet from Welland Ontario, D’Scribe is a core member of the 2017 HYP team that competed at events such as Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, Slamtario, as well as the raining Champs of the new youth festival Voices of Today. D’Scribe has also competed at events like the Canadian Individual poetry Slam in Vancouver, Capturing fire in Washington DC and the Hot Damn it’s a Queer Slam Championship of 2017
