Toronto The Good was written by Canadian playwright Andrew Moodie in response to the rise of gun crime after the 2005 Year of the Gun era. Producer Gloria Gift Nankunda and Director Chad Tailor have made it their mission to bring this story back to the stage once again. Since it’s original performance in 2008 at the Factory Theatre it has been revised with current political settings as the prevalence of gun violence is now at an all time high.
Accusations of racial profiling are leveled against a Toronto police officer after she arrests a
black man for illegal firearm possession. When top Crown attorney Thomas Matthews is assigned to prosecute the accused against a left-leaning white attorney, tensions mount and personal politics bubble to the surface. From an ostensibly routine traffic stop, each character must come to terms with the city’s racial politics and how they have shaped their own beliefs and prejudices.
This is an all ages event.
Door’s will open one hour before the show.
