NIGE GOUGH SHINE ON FOUNDATION AT THE TORONTO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
After a very successful first two years led by Tawiah M’Carthy and Philip Geller, the Emerging Artist & Producer Series (EAPS) returns for the 2022/23 season, under the guidance of Erum Khan. Growing out of the Emerging Creators Unit, EAPS is a space for emerging artists and emerging producers to meet each other, share skills and ideas, and learn from established professionals in their field.
This season’s EAPS activities will be co-curated and co-created by emerging artists and community members, the programming will directly respond to identified needs of the queer/trans emerging artistic community
We look forward to building our community together!

You Better Work(back): a project management workshop

So many things to do… and where to start? This workshop will walk you through project management and planning cycles, with an eye to sharing tools and strategies that can benefit projects at any scale. The workshop will conclude with some time to ask questions of the workshop leaders in relation to your own projects.
This workshop will be led by Clayton Lee (Rhubarb Festival Director) and Daniel Carter (Managing Director)

Get that Money$$: a Grant-writing workshop

In this workshop, you will gain insights into the grantwriting process – artist statements, budget building, timelines, support materials. We will walk through a project grant application, providing insights into TAC/OAC/CCA applications. The workshop will conclude with some time to work independently with workshop leaders on your own grant application.

In the Middle of It

Buddies in Bad Times Theatre
‘In the middle of it’ is a space for artists of all disciplines to collaborate in an accountable space. During this time we talk about our practice, while also being given space to workshop and experiment.
This space is for artists that are open to offering their work to the group for questions and conversation. Please come to the space with an idea or a practice you are looking to explore with the group. Work that can be brought includes, but is not limited to: text, movement explorations, performance pieces, music, poetry.
Kemi King is a writer, director, performance artist, and devisor. She has worked with a number of arts organizations over the years, some being Obsidian, Canadian Stage, Intermission, the Grand Theatre in Kingston,Ontario and Soulpepper. Kemi is the Artistic Director of YIKES Co., founded in her second year of undergrad. Working within her practice, theatre of critical care, Kemi emphasizes relation and exploration in her work. She believes there are better ways for arts institutions and artists to co-exist, allowing for the true liberation and the radicalization of community consciousness.
