JUST ANNOUNCED: OUR 2015/16 EMERGING CREATORS UNIT PARTICIPANTS

After a rigorous selection process, Buddies is excited to announce that Monica Garrido, Josh Middleton, Marina Moreira, and Chase Lo will be joining this year’s Emerging Creators Unit! Over the course of the Season they will work with Program Director Sunny Drake and Buddies dramaturge Mel Hague to develop their artistic voices through the creation of  individual work to be presented at the annual Rhubarb Festival.

2015/16 Participants:

Monica Garrido is a Mexican performer, filmmaker, writer, producer and dance battle champion. Her short film “Diferente” premiered at the 2015 Inside Out Film festival. She has had the privilege to work with many other artists on projects such as PRIDECAB, Kitchen Party Nervous Breakdown, and FLAME, among other shows and programs. Monica hopes to share her stories with dreamers like herself.

Josh Middleton is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Toronto. He was featured in PrideCab2013 and has performed at both Glad Day and Videofag as a spoken word and performance artist. Josh is excited to create and act in his first queer contemporary play for The Emerging Creator’s Unit, and hopes to build a stronger community through it!

Marina Moreira is a theatre artist, and sometimes that is a lot of things. She’s much better in person than in bio-form, she swears.

Chase Lo is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary performer in dance/theatre. With both Sunny and Mel’s guidance, he looks forward to his artistic journey in the Emerging Creators Unit at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.
