Buddies exists to support the development of queer artists and voices.
We’ve got a variety of ways for you to get involved at Buddies. From professional development opportunities for artists to drop-in workshops and spaces for intergenerational dialogue. We also present an annual award recognizing the achievements of an emerging queer artist, and support projects through the Ontario Arts Council’s Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators.
Utilize our Get Involved menu to see what opportunities are coming up, or visit our Events Calendar to find out when you can see our artists bring their work to the stage.
Buddies in Bad Times is not currently accepting script submissions.
We accept new work from artists in our artist development programs: the OAC Recommenders Grants (December, annually) the Rhubarb Festival (September, annually) and the Emerging Creators Unit (October, annually). Please check in on our Call for Submissions page for active programs in order to send your work to us.
If you would like to introduce yourself and your work to Buddies, please send your bio and a short sample of writing (MAX 15 pages) to Daniel Carter (Metcalf Foundation Artistic Director Intern) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hardcopy submissions are no longer accepted.
If you would like monthly updates on calls for submissions, educational offerings, and other opportunities to get involved, we’ve got a newsletter for you! Sign up below.
