Join Buddies Residency Artists We Other Sons as they present a multimedia workshop series that focuses on supporting queer men of colour in identifying, articulating and staging their personal narratives around sex, sexuality and shame.
The workshop will take place twice on separate weekends, November 13 & 14, and January 15 & 16. Participants will only attend one weekend, and will receive an honorarium of $100 for their completion of the workshop.

What’s Involved
The Collective seeks 8-10 queer men of colour (cis and trans) to participate, ages 18 and up. The workshops will focus on supporting participants in identifying, articulating, and staging their personal narratives around sex, sexuality and shame. This will be done through reflecting on telling difficult stories, vocal expressions and body movement, creative writing and mask making. Participants will have the option to present their work to their peers at the end of the session. The workshops will be facilitated by the current members of WOS; Daniel Antonio, David Lewis-Peart, Livio Lopes, and Roel Torres.
The workshops are offered at two times, both at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander Street):
1st cohort
Saturday, November 13, 10AM-4PM
Sunday, November 14, 11AM-3PM
2nd cohort
Saturday, January 15, 10AM-4PM
Sunday, January 16, 11AM-3PM
The Collective
We Other Sons (WOS) is a collective of queer men of colour creative and cultural producers. They explore sex, sexuality, shame, intimacy, race and masculinity among queer men of colour through photography, video, performance, the use of ritual, and personal storytelling with the intention to humanize, build empathy and create connection among and between queer men and their allies. WOS has shared workshop presentations of What’s Done Must Come at Buddies’ Queer Pride Festival (2019), and performed at the Rhubarb Festival (2020). The Collective has also has presented works at festivals such as Nuit Rose Festival of Queer Art and Performance in Toronto (2018) and Lambda Literary Festival in Los Angeles (2018).
