Legendary electro-funk-rap group Stink Mitt returns to tear Toronto a new one with their first live
show in over a decade at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.
“FORGET THE BEATLES – STINKMITT IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER”
-George Stroumboulopoulos (CBC)
Stink Mitt are legends in their own time. Their debut LP Scratch n’ Sniff was hailed as “an instant classic” and “a groundbreaking genre-fuck” (Hour, Montreal) while their sophomore LP The Red Album garnered further critical acclaim; “it just oozes sisterly sleaze and smarts…the songwriting is tight, the beats pumping” (Vancouver Province). Their live shows–which put the Flashdance back in freestyling–are as infamous as they are massively entertaining: “These girls can rapid-fire freestyle rap with the best of them, delivering incredible wordplay of seriously brilliant construction and flow” (San Francisco Bay Times).
StinkMitt’s electro-funk-hip-hop-hybrid sound is infused with the hilarious and subversive commentary of MCs Jenni Craige & Betti Forde and backed by Juno Award-nominated producer/MC Bigstuff (Organized Rhyme) and Juno Award-winning and Grammy-nominated producer The Stunt Man. Stink Mitt’s music appears in hit TV series including The L-Word and Lost Girl, and their mind-blowing live show landed them on worldwide stages with Peaches, The Gossip, Nashville Pussy, Eagles of Death Metal, Andy Bell, Tommy Sunshine, Smalltown DJs, Uffie, Vitalic, Junior Sanchez, t.Raumschmiere, Mark Moore, Larry Tee, and more.
After a 12-year hiatus, Stink Mitt reunited to record new music, including the forthcoming single “You’re Welcome”, dropping in January 2023 on Macho Man Music. They’re due to tear Toronto a new one as they rip through their “Greatest Mitts” at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
“Blending the classic synthpop side of Prince with a few fluid ounces of modern electro, [Stink Mitt’s] music will surely put dance in your pants” (Montreal Mirror).
