Memory is a funny thing, so quiet if left undisturbed.
Two love stories twist together in two Beiruts riven by time and conflict. In 1978, two women share spit on the ends of cigarettes and yearn for tenderness under the tumult of war. In 2018, a foreigner and a local flirt over vodka sodas as their contradictions collect like condensation on the sides of their glasses.
Poetic realism braids past and present into the green line of vegetation that bisected the concrete of Lebanon’s capital during the civil war. The Green Line, named a finalist for the 2024 Governor General’s Literary Award, unearths queer history that has always been there, whether our ancestors wanted it to be inherited or erased.

* The performance on Sunday, September 28 at 2PM is mask-mandatory, and a relaxed performance. Relaxed Performances are designed to welcome audience members who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including house lights being left on at a low level, more freedom to come and go from the space, and an alternate space to take a break from the show if needed. It will be followed by a post-show chat.
**Proceeds from the performance on Wednesday, October 1 will be donated to the Sameer Project, a relief effort that sends food and supplies to Gaza, and Anishnawbe Health Toronto, a multidisciplinary health centre with a model of health care based on Indigenous culture and traditions. The show will feature a post-show chat.
