(Almost) every year, Buddies welcomes droves of discerning art queers and adventurous shoppers for an outrageous art auction unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Our live auction features work from some of the country’s foremost contemporary artists, while the Tuck Shop offers an astounding collection of artist multiples and limited edition prints. Packed full of tasty treats, sexy surprises and performances, and the very best in contemporary art, our ARTATTACK! is a huge and important fundraiser for Buddies and an event you don’t want to miss.
ArtAttack is honoured to present Toronto artist Meaghan Hyckie as our 2021 Multiple Print Artist with “Gather”. Limited prints are available for $150 and for a limited time we are offering $15 shipping in Canada only for single prints.
Meaghan Hyckie’s work channels the ideals and anxieties evoked by simple iconography into visually and emotionally complex images. Combining unusual colours with subtle tonal variations, Hyckie creates delicately tactile, optically vibrating prints and drawings that shift from feeling appealing to unsettling. Form and space deteriorate into patterns, shapes and lines, abstracting and articulating the boundaries between the inside and the outside. Hyckie’s work has been presented across Canada, with exhibitions at Olga Korper Gallery (Toronto), Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montréal), Macaulay & Co. Fine Art (Vancouver), Museum London and is in the collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario.
The barely-there cotton candy tones of Gather amplify the impossibility of the image, an anxious arrangement made curious and playful, but no less fraught. Meaghan Hyckie is represented by Olga Korper Gallery in Toronto. Works by Hyckie are in public and private collections, including Museum London and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
