A musical tonic for the dead of Winter. Featuring new tunes from the Beatles Songbook and a handful of the Choir’s Greatest Hits. Oh, and Wendy might breakdance.
The Bruised Years Choir is thrilled to be performing at Buddies’ comfy, licensed Cabaret. We will be performing much of the material for the first time – the new tunes are favourites from the Beatles Songbook. We’ll also perform a handful of our Greatest Hits including songs by SIA, Richard Jones, REM, Lady Gaga and others.
So, put that phone down, pause the Netflix marathon and get out of the house. Come support the “Bad News Bears of Choirs” – 100% guaranteed to entertain and make you smile.
About the Choir
Artists in Workman Arts’ popular Bruised Years Choir get together every Monday afternoon for round-the-piano collaboration. They tackle contemporary tunes that lend themselves to group vocals. The Bruisers have won over a number of fans for their performances about Toronto, which have included the last two incarnations of the Luminato Festival (Out the Window, Madda’ooke Songlines), the Invictus Games, an invitation from Mayor Tory to sing in Council Chambers, to mark the first session of the current City Council and more.
Weekly practices are the heart of what the Choir does, providing members with a positive start to the week – particularly valuable in these winter months, when we fight against the darkened days. We’re an eclectic group of artists – some are musicians, others are visual artists, media artists, dancers, writers, filmmakers and performance artists. The common thread is that all of our members live with mental health and/or addiction challenges.
