SPURS night is Toronto and Montréal’s line dancing evening for queer people and their friends. It’s been happening in both cities since Kathleen Munroe started the night in 2023, and is led in Montréal by Noël Vézina, and in Toronto by its trusty team of callers: Kathleen, Nessie, Meredith, and Veronique. Folks come by Owls Club in Dovercourt Village every Sunday to learn some new steps through weekly lessons, dance some classic country line dances to their favorite songs, or to mingle with a friendly pocket of the queer community. SPURS is honored to be at Tallulah’s Cabaret on the second Thursday of every month, getting more in touch with the queer side of country and western dancing’s history through dancing in a historically queer space. Come by for two lessons a night from one of our beloved callers, meet some new friends, and enjoy the euphoria of social dance!
