Established in 1979, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre is a professional Canadian theatre company dedicated to the development and presentation of queer theatre. Over the past 40 years, it has evolved from a small production company into the largest facility-based queer theatre company in the world. The theatre sits in the heart of downtown, adjacent to Toronto’s Gay Village, and its primary constituencies are the city’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities, and an urban alternative theatre-loving audience, both LGBT and straight. In addition to being a theatre, Buddies is a popular gay nightclub with weekly late-night events occurring year-round.

Duties:
- Oversees the fulfillment of ticket sales at the theatre box office
- Manages the company’s online ticket purchasing system, including building of in-house and rental events and managing the online event calendar
- Processes group orders and/or inquiries and issues invoices
- Administers ticket donation requests on behalf of the company, including complimentary ticket requests
- Financial management, including end-of-day cash outs, donation processing, banking, box office settlements, department payroll, and internal financial reporting
- Establishes and enforces appropriate box office policy/procedures in co-operation with the Managing Director and/or Artistic Director
- Hires, trains, and manages part-time staff with the goal of providing excellent customer service
- Maintains good internal communication with both box office staff and with other departments to ensure effective and timely dissemination of information
- Acts as a Front-of-House manager for performances and is responsible for delivering a clean, safe, and enjoyable experience for all patrons
- Oversees and delivers accommodations for people with diverse abilities, including compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Promotes and practices relevant health and safety and fire standards
- Prepares clear and accurate ticketing reports for all performances and rental clients
- Communicates a positive attitude, has a sincere interest in the health and well being of their staff, colleagues and the company at large, and interacts in a respectful way with all of the above
- Coordinates volunteers
- General office and clerical duties
- Attends management meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director and/or Artistic Director to fulfill the role of Box Office and Front of House Manager
Skills:
- Equivalent work experience

- Understanding of federal privacy legislation

- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
- Prepared to problem solve and report to the General Manager and/or Artistic Director
- Experience with Theatre Manager and WordPress an asset
