Buddies in Bad Times, known to friends as Buddies, is a queer organization: for us queerness is a political/aesthetic orientation, more than (just) an identitarian subcategory, our queerness is oppositional, disobedient, and centres and celebrates otherness and radical outsiders.
ROLE
Our Hosting Team fosters a welcoming atmosphere inviting all patrons into an authentically queer cultural experience and thrives on being a sassy source of information and support for all folks who come through our doors.
We are looking for folks who can step in right away and have lots of availability until the end of June 2024. Should our vibes be right, we may bring folks back as our season ramps up in September.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome folks into the Buddies space
- Advise patrons on the details of their experience at Buddies such as seating and pricing
- Process ticket orders and donations.
- Be an enthusiastic source of information about performance and events
ABOUT YOU:
- You love Buddies and working with the general public
- You are available to work evenings, weekends, late nights and some holidays
- You like to follow the rules but thrive in a little bit of chaos and queer wildness
- You have experience processing payments, collecting data, and managing cash.
- You may have experience on the Arts Management Theatre Manager software or other CRM software but this is not essential
HOW TO APPLY:
We prioritize applications from folks from equity-deserving groups, including those who identify as Indigenous, racialized, Trans, Nonbinary, Queer, Disabled, Neurodiverse, Mad and intersections of those identities. We enthusiastically invite submissions from individuals from a diversity of performing arts practices.
