Good Grief: Queer and Trans reflections on the edge of survival
June 30 from 8:00PM – 8:45PM // Livestream on YouTube // PWYC – Please donate to The Okra Project and Taking What We Need (more info below)
from the Emerging Creators Unit
E-TRANSFERS
8:00PM – 8:45PM
Written and performed by Gabe Maharjan and Merlin Simard, with funding from the National Theatre School’s Art Apart program.
What do love and money have in common? They’re sometimes used recklessly, often desired, and whether we like it or not, they are key to our survival. Wyn (they/he), Emma (they/she), and Zein (they) are hustling within their digital trans community as they make, save, and spend these currencies.
The Emerging Creators Unit offers an intensive opportunity to develop the artistic voice through the creation and performance of a solo show at Buddies. These Queer and Trans artists have received in-depth theatre training since January in partnership with b current performing arts, and led by its Artistic Director Catherine Hernandez. Due to COVID-19, this year’s cohort has bravely adjusted their creative process by shifting their pieces into online experiences or acting as directorial support to ensure you can enjoy the fruits of their labour in the safety of your home.
Collectively developed and presented by the Emerging Creators Unit
