Every Day She Rose
November 23 – December 8, 2019
Politics, privilege, and friendship
A NIGHTWOOD THEATRE PRODUCTION
The personal becomes political in this collaboratively created new work from playwrights Andrea Scott and Nick Green. When racial and queer politics collide at the 2016 Toronto Pride parade, two best friends discover that the things that brought them together may now drive them apart. A hilarious and heartbreaking stare-down of privilege and oppression.

Rush Tickets go on sale at noon for that day’s performance and can be purchased until 7:00pm on weekdays and 2:30pm on Sundays, or until they sell out – whichever comes first. For select performances, Rush Tickets are offered as Pay-What-You-Can, which means you pick the price. If cost is a barrier, this is your chance to get an affordable ticket. If you are able to pay more, this is your chance to increase your support for the work on stage and ensure it stays affordable for those who need it.
Rush Tickets are generally only available in-person at our box office, and we recommend getting here early for more popular shows as these tickets can sell fast. However, if getting down here in the middle of the day presents a barrier – accessible transportation, childcare, etc – simply call the box office at 416-975-8555 and we’ll hold up to two Rush Tickets for you that you can purchase when you arrive to see the show.

As Canada’s foremost feminist theatre, Nightwood provides an essential home for the creation of extraordinary theatre by women. Founded in 1979, Nightwood Theatre has created and produced award-winning plays, which have won Dora Mavor Moore, Chalmers, Trillium, and Governor General’s Awards. Led by Artistic Director Andrea Donaldson and Managing Director Beth Brown, Nightwood has been recognized for artistic excellence, ongoing advocacy for women in Canadian Theatre, and for its investment, training and development of emerging female-identified talent.
Buddies’ audiences will remember Nightwood from their epic production of Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad in 2012 and 2013, Quote Unquote Collective’s Mouthpiece in 2016 and 2017, and Audrey Dwyer’s Calpurnia in 2018. Our two companies have enjoyed a decades-long relationship, dating all the way back to the 1980 Rhubarb Festival.
