THEATRE RUSTICLE
Thornton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize winning drama collides with Theatre Rusticle’s imagistic and physically poetic style to tell the story of daily life, love, marriage, and death in the town of Grover’s Corners. The company’s hallmark physicality meets Wilder’s timeless questions about how place defines us, how we live, how we love and our place in this big universe.

Theatre Rusticle is one of Toronto’s leading companies specializing in physical and devised work. Since 1998, they have made theatre ranging in sources from verbatim text to Virginia Woolf and Strindberg. Rusticle pushes the boundaries where text meets the language of the body to create image-drenched theatre that celebrates our inner and outer lives, our knowns and unknowns. Rusticle has received 12 Dora-Mavor Moore nominations, performed at the Magnetic North Theatre Festival and toured western Canada. The work has been hailed as “ethereal, poetic and gracefully beautiful” (The Charlebois Post) and “one of the most imaginative companies in Canada” (The Globe and Mail). This production marks Theatre Rusticle’s third collaboration with Buddies in Bad Times.
