QUIVER
OCTOBER 21 - NOVEMBER 6
“This is a brilliant and brave play”
— Judith Thompson
NIGHTWOOD THEATRE
A single mother and her rebellious teenage daughter collide when a love interest comes between them, leaving 14-year-old Maddie caught in the crossfire. Armed with little more than a microphone, a laptop, and a vocal processor, writer-performer Anna Chatterton masterfully creates a sonic landscape to tell this dark and deliciously funny story of a passionate and imperfect family.
Anna Chatterton is a playwright, librettist and performer. Anna co-writes and performs with the acclaimed Independent Aunties whose works Gertrude and Alice, Breakfast, and Clean Irene & Dirty Maxine have all played to packed houses here at Buddies. She has also created critically acclaimed work for companies such as Tarragon Theatre, the Canadian Opera Company, and Harbourfront Centre.
Quiver plays alongside Mouthpiece as part of an electric double bill that unleashes and explodes the possibilities of the female voice through innovative use of music and sound. Book tickets for both shows and save .

As Canada’s foremost feminist theatre, Nightwood provides an essential home for the creation of extraordinary theatre by women. Founded in 1979, Nightwood Theatre has created and produced award-winning plays, which have won Dora Mavor Moore, Chalmers, Trillium and Governor General’s Awards. The company is led by Artistic Director Kelly Thornton and Managing Director Beth Brown, who have received public acclaim in artistic excellence, advocacy, and their successful training and development of emerging female talent.
Buddies’ audiences will remember Nightwood from their epic production of Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad in 2012 and 2013. Our two companies have enjoyed a decades-long relationship, dating all the way back to the 1980 Rhubarb Festival and including such hits as Diane Flacks’ Bear with Me and Maja Ardal’s HER2.
