The 2-Spirit Cabaret is back for its 7th edition! Join Native Earth Performing Arts at Buddies to celebrate, honour, and party with our Two-Spirit relatives. A celebration of the strength, beauty, and talent of queer and 2-Spirit Indigenous people, the Cabaret features music, dance, drag, performance art, spoken word, poetry and comedy.

Hosted by Denise B. McLeod, with performances by Zachariah Highgate, Tygr Willy, Pansy Chisk, Miss Carcass Caresse, Mercy Buttercup, Mikiki, Rhinestone Chickadee and IndigiBabes BurlesqueNeno Freebird, Salty Bay, and Miss Savage Moon.

Followed by a dance party with DJ Fawn Big Canoe, catered by We Feed the People.

Miss Carcass Caresse

Carcass is an Saulteaux/Anishnaabe Performer, located on Treaty 1 territory. While not new to the stage, Miss Carcass Caresse is fresh meat for the Burlesque scene to toil. This will be a sight for sure, the embryonic first steps to the center stage – Here to maneuver and summon you to join her on this journey, just don’t trespass without permission. Let’s see what this trickster can get up to!

Pansy Chisk

Zachariah Highgate

Image of Zachariah HighgateBorn and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Zachariah Highgate has been honing his skills as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and performer since the age of sixteen. As an Afro-Indigenous and Goan artist with a unique style, Zachariah showcases a new Toronto sound curated by his life experiences. His music speaks to his struggles, but also sheds light on his hopes for the future. Zachariah is currently in the studio working on new music, including his debut EP dropping in 2023. Zachariah is also working on an upcoming webseries and is currently modelling for designers in the city.

 

Rhinestone Chickadee

IndigiBabes Burlesque

Image of IndigiBabes over a purple and orange gradient backgroundThe IndigiBabes are a Toronto based burlesque collective made up of Indigenous artists, activists and aunties interested in empowering themselves and their communities, by challenging the dominate culture narratives of Indigenous 2 Spirit, Trans and Cis Women.

Through performances, community outreach, and shared knowledge, IndigiBabes Burlesque’s vision is to create safer spaces for Indigenous people to celebrate each other and participate in ceremony. The Indigibabes are about reclaiming Indigenous sexuality, sensuality, gender expression and storytelling through the art of Burlesque.

A part of the last generation of the 60’s Scoop, D.B. was raised in the north west of Toronto by a non Indigenous family. Denise proudly defines herself much as Queer urban Indigenous cis woman, and is interested in the reclamation of language, culture and ceremony as that has been a large part of D.B. ‘s healing journey. D.B. along with her comedy sisters founded Manifest Destiny’s Child Comedy Collective. D.B.’s newly founded passion of  Burlesque is about challenging dominant cultures stereotypes on Indigenous women, sex, sexuality and sensuality.

 

Kitten: Softservve

Softservve is fresh on the performance scene after a decade of denying her love for entertaining.
She is a content creator, camgirl, model and burlesque dancer. She is the resident Kitten of the Indigebabes Burlesque Troupe and is a Grand Prize Sex Siren winner in the Imperial Dynasty Haus of Hua Mulan in Toronto’s queer ballroom scene.
She’s got a swirl of soft & salacious that will satiate your sweet tooth.
